How to create a distribution list in Gmail

image

What you know as a distribution list in just about any other e-mail application is called a "Group" in Gmail.  To create a group of e-mail recipients;

  • First, click the Contacts Link on the right side of the screen.
  • Next, click the Add New Group button.

  • You will be prompted to give the new group a name.  Enter the name and click OK
  • Lastly, to add e-mail addresses to your new Group, place your cursor in the box that says "Add to this group",

    and start typing the e-mail address of one of your contacts.  As you do this, Gmail will bring up a list of contacts to add.  Click the contact name to add them to the Group.

It works, but it is quite a chore.  I hope that someday Google creates a friendlier way to create Groups or Distribution Lists in Gmail.
