I am a big proponent of keeping an empty e-mail inbox. I simply cannot fathom how someone can manage an inbox filled with hundreds of e-mails. I have to keep my inbox clean to feel organized. I have developed a number of ways to help me stay organized and keep my e-mail inbox empty. Over time, I’ve written about a few. Following are some of my favorite inbox management tips;
- Dealing with Responses to Outlook Meeting Notices
- Dealing with Out-of-Office Messages
- Keeping your Newsletter Subscriptions out of your Inbox
- Follow the 2 minute rule. If you cannot action the e-mail in 2 minutes, define the next action and defer it.
- If you don’t want to deal with an e-mail message now, set aside time for it by moving it to your calendar.
- Delete it! This is clearly my favorite!
Hope some of these tips help you as much as they have helped me.
